PRESS RELEASE
Wolfville, N.S. - Nova Scotia wine lovers have a new reason to visit the Annapolis Valley this summer. Muir Murray Estate Winery, the province's eleventh winery, will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, July 3, 2009 with wine samples, vineyard tours and a speech from Nova Scotia's Senator Don Oliver.
"I have always wanted to do something in the agriculture or grape growing realm," says Jonathan Murray, owner of Muir Murray Estate Winery.
"Opening the winery has been exciting, fun and definitely challenging." Muir Murray is the first local winery to use all screw cap enclosures for its wines. According to Murray, screw caps provide the best closure for bottled wines, and also help eliminate "corked wine" and oxidation problems.
"Our purpose is to make quality wine and to focus on the education and research side of things," says Murray. "Down the road we will have an education centre called Annapolis Valley Institute for Education on Wine (AVIEW). The institute will host grape growing seminars, wine appreciation training as well as a culinary component. However right now we are just concentrating on the winery."
Murray currently produces eight wines and recently won three medals at the Atlantic Canadian Wine Awards for his Eagles Soar Baco Noir, Summer Song Rosé and Orchard View Marechal Foch.
The Muir Murray grand opening celebration will take place at 3:00 p.m. on July 3, 2009. To RSVP for the opening or for more information, please call (902)542-0343, or visit http://www.muirmurraywinery.com/ [1].
Muir Murray Estate Winery is located on 90 Dyke Road in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. The winery is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Guided tours run daily at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Tours and tastings are free. |
